Mill Street Etching Studio enjoys the benefits of supervised printmaking for beginners in the light, spacious and professionally equipped workshop at Rose Farm Barn (please visit www.rosefarmbarns.co.uk for details on staying with us or see the links on the Exhibitions page). For experienced and professional printmakers there is the opportunity to use the facilities unsupervised after an initial induction on the etching press. Daily sessions charged at £25.00 (£20.00 concessions*) or weekly sessions at £125.00 (£100.00 concessions*)

There is one room only for sole use or one to one tuition – housing a Rochat press (bed size 25” x 40“) and all the equipment needed to produce etchings. There is also a large well lit area used for clean processes for designing, planning and pressing prints.

There is always a stock of materials to hand including Charbonnel Etching Inks, Charbonnel hard and soft grounds, and Caligo Safe Wash Relief inks. We supply papers including Hahnemuhle Etching, Somerset Satin Zerkall Mould Made paper, copper plates in different sizes for printing.

Caro Halford, the founder, provides invaluable supervision, technical support and guidance for all members and she has a wealth of knowledge of printmaking processes. Caro works at the University of the Creative Arts as a Creative Workshop Tutor and has worked in several art colleges including Camberwell College of Arts, Winchester School of Fine Art and Bath Spa University as a lecturer and visiting tutor. She has led workshops on dry point etching, collagraph print and screen print at the Royal College of Art and Kingston College in London and Bruton Art Factory in Somerset. She is currently researching British women printmakers from the long eighteenth century at the University of East London.
